We will generally have bulls for sale all year round with the bulk of bulls rising two years of age in the August to December period each year. Our cattle, bred for docility and fertility, are a pleasure to work with. Inspections are always welcomed so come and visit our herd for yourself.
Peter and Tom have clear goals to breed cattle with great meat quality and fertility to go across predominantly Bos indicus herds.
The Senepol, in particular, fits that bill, providing a great outcross that delivers those traits. It also has no hump, no horns, and a slick coatt. It is a Bos Taurus breed that can handle the tropical environment of the northern parts of Australia and has huge potential and already the benefits are being noticed.
We breed Senepol and Senepol cross Droughtmaster. I dubbed them Senemasters in 2006. Also, we cross Senepol with Ultrablack/Brangus to produce a ‘Senegus’.
My son, Thomas also breeds Droughtmasters with a purebred registered herd. The Droughtmaster breed speaks for itself in fertility, meat quality and temperament and is a widely adaptable and hardy animal.
The feedback we have received over the last 20 years has been encouraging and we continue to get the repeat buyers. They are very happy with their fertility, meat quality, and temperament.
We sell both commercial and stud bulls from 18 months of age, that have passed a Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation, that checks both motility and morphology. We sell out of the paddock, saving the buyer costs in feed, yard, and agents fees. It takes time to ‘let down’ a bull that has been fed up for sale.
Our bulls are ready to work, and have been acclimatised in the most tickly, buffalo-fly area in the country in the north’s Wet Tropics. No where else can such selection pressure be put on cattle. This makes our animals extremely hardy.
We also sell commercial and stud heifers of these same breeds.

"The Senepol breed first caught my attention in 2008 when Peter and Katrina Spies showed their stud cattle on the North Queensland show circuit. I was immediately taken with the general confirmation of these cattle as well as the slick coat which I think is a great advantage for tick resistance here in the north. Being strongly polled and early maturing were also great attributes I’d been looking for.
I subsequently bought Pinnacle Pocket Buster in November 2008 to go over my Droughtmaster x Santa Gertrudis Cows, and now have progeny two years old. The steers have grown exceptionally well and have fattened ready for the butcher at the two-tooth stage. I’ve been so impressed with these offspring, I have decided to change the composition of my breeding herd by keeping the majority of the half Senepol heifers. No doubt Pinnacle Pocket Buster has done more to improve my herd than any previous bull I have had.
So convinced am I that Senepols will feature strongly in the future of the northern cattle industry, I recently bought some stud Senepol cows and will continue an association with the Pinnacle Pocket stud as a collaborative breeder".
