Pinnacle Droughtmaster Stud

The Droughtmaster combines the best characteristics of both the British (Bos taurus) and Tropical Bos indicus breeds to produce high quality beef economically.

Pinnacle Pocket has previously bred Droughtmasters, and was highly successful in the ring. Pinnacle Pocket ran a fertile herd of 100 registered Droughtmaster breeders based on Wallace Vale, Billabong, Vale View, Kanbrae, Mooma Park and Leverdale bloodlines from 2006-2015.

In 2026, Tom Spies commenced breeding a small purebred, registered Droughtmaster herd. He has started with 24, D5 heifers from Heitiki, Parawanga, Warrina, Warralea and Notable studs. Tom sells only purebred droughtmaster cattle.

Still to this day, Pinnacle Pocket senepols use Droughtmasters in breeding composite cattle. These 'Senemasters' provide a high degree of tropical adaption to go over predominantly high-content Bos indicus herds in the Far north.

Tom’s aim is to breed efficient purebred Droughtmasters production, that have a high market approval and maximise returns. An emphasis on fertility, good temperament, bone, correct structure with good frame score, and longer legs to be able to walk long distances and high fertility. Bulls must have a tidy sheath (not low or pendulous) and large scrotal size.
